Suppose there is a certain way things are. Some call it the Truth, some call it Theory.
The question is, do you really need to study all the books that have been written before to better understand that truth? Or is it better to spend all this time practicing the truth, implementing the theory, and living life according to a specific understanding of how it works?
Why would you need to read all the sutras to elucidate the meaning?
Why would you need to read all the books to understand what they’re getting into?
What if all these writings are just wanderings of the people who are lost, trying to find a reason, following deadends, exploring the outcomes, making mistakes, making empty promises, procrastinating, convincing themselves, lying, making things up, occasionally bumping into wisdom, getting lost again?
A counter-argument could be that it’s important to follow the trajectory for the sake of practicing the search for wisdom, not only finding the wisdom itself. To observe the “thinking” process of the model. To learn from mistakes, to understand the patterns.
